Modern views: project to Benefit the Farnworth House and the Glass House invited some of our era’s top creative minds to continue one if the twentieth century’s great cultural dialogues: the historic exchange reflected in the Ludwig Mies Van der Rohe Farnsworth House (1945-51) and the Philip Johnson Glass House (1949)
Modern views was directed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Center for Modernism, at the Philip Johnson Glass House in New Canaan, Connecticut. As the management of the Farnsworth House shifted to the National Trust on January 1, 2010, this project provided the opportunity to revisit the dynamic exchange between these iconic buildings and their architects.
